Cremated Remains Analysis There is sometimes a concern with the commingling of cremated remains or with the misidentification of the remains. Often, dental structures and dental restorations can be recovered from cremated remains (cremains). Crematorium furnace temperatures may be less than the temperature required to incinerate teeth and dental restorative materials, thereby leaving dental evidence in the cremains. The dental evidence remaining can be analyzed and compared with ante-mortem dental records to make an identification. Dr. Loomis has been involved in cases which have included commingled cremains, and misidentified cremains, which were successfully identified by dental comparison.
